Pray…Anytime You Wish…

"God warms his hands at man's heart when he prays."
---John Masefield

I am inspired by the words and wisdom of this children’s book written by a friend. It is a simple message yet something so powerful that we take for granted so much. A reminder of sorts that we really can, and God expects us to, pray wherever we are and anytime we wish.

Deuteronomy 31:6  New International Version (NIV)
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

I have an ongoing conversation going on in my mind with God, everyday. Some days, I simply say, ‘Thank you for taking care of me and my family today, Lord.” Over and over and over. Some days I’m more specific but most of my prayers begin with Thank you… Prayer gives me so much peace and strength that why wouldn’t I pray even if it is the same prayer over and over sometimes.

"There is not in the world a kind of life more sweet and delightful than that of a continual conversation with God."
- Brother Lawrence
I share with you this children’s book not just to share with your children but for you to read and hopefully be inspired by it’s simple, yet powerful message. I pray that it will deepen your faith in the power of prayer.

A Blog Post sharing a Blog Post about a Farm Wife

Inspiring message from a newlywed farm wife from the North Dakota prairie. She's got it figured out in just a couple of years of being married to a farmer. What she writes is true and names weren't changed to protect the innocent. It's a quick read. Check it out.  :-)

An 1870 publication reads–
The farmers wife is not less essential to successful farming than her husband.

Fall Harvest Meals on Wheels

My farmer and our daughter's farmer. :-)

Fall Harvest on the farm requires lots of planning and preparation in the kitchen. You never know if you'll have 1, 2 or 5 or more hungry farmers to feed or if you'll be taking the meals to the field or if you have to run the grain cart and still provide the food for everyone.  I've been doing a lot of prep and putting things in the freezer for this years meals.

Here’s one of my favorites to put in the freezer and have on hand for harvest and the winter months.  A recipe you can put in the freezer and bake frozen when you have farmers to feed, unexpected company or want a fresh coffee cake.

A recipe has no soul. You as the cook must bring soul to the recipe. --Thomas Keller

2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

Or
Cover and put in freezer. When ready to bake remove cover and bake frozen at 350 degrees for 45

(Back in the game) The Real Farm Wife Life of Nebraska

It's been over a year since my last post. It's time to get this blog rolling again. I recently retired from my Agribusiness Technology Instructor position and promoted to farm wife/farm hand once again. So 17 years later I've resumed my full-time position on the farm. I'm excited and can't wait to share the trials and celebrations of my farm wife life.

You all know I'm passionate about women in agriculture and sharing the message on how important they are to the farming life. There is no discrimination. You are one or you're not. We may each play a different role but we are all important and share a special bond. If it's you, embrace it. Pick one thing on your farm or ranch and embrace it. Find your niche in that role whether you have always been one or married in to it. There's a place and a purpose for you.

All I can say is it wasn't our signature wine last night but there's wine involved when the 'real farmwives of Nebraska get together" and help each other out during harvest...and Harvest just started so you are all invited to join us, anytime. Jeep rides, tractor rides, combine rides, men to feed, animals to feed, food and drink...keep an open mind and you'll fit in just fine. It's a way of life like no other and there's all kinds of wives, from full-time farm wives to full-time employed in town farmwives, to new to the farm wives. All are filling a role like no other.

A farm wife...and so much more...
